Sundays are the perfect day to do a complete beauty overhaul. Even though we all know that scalp care is important, we still tend to neglect it. I tend to use a Sunday haircare regimen. I will share the details with you to make your hair shiny and smooth and purify your scalp to have better hair days. A good hair care routine can be soothing, especially if you use each product in a particular way. This is self-care. Continue reading for the full decode.
1. I first saturate my scalp and strands with hair oil.
It may seem counterintuitive, but the lipids in oils help strands stay together. I prefer to use hair oils to seal the cuticle and replenish any moisture lost during the week. You can make your oil ( coconut oil or argan oil are the most popular bases), or you can use a hair oil such as the Forest Essentials Ayurvedic Head Massage Oil. I divide my hair into three sections: the top, middle and bottom. Next, I take the warm oil and rub my hands together. Finally, I rake my hair evenly with my fingers. Then, I massage my hair with my fingertips and let it sit.
2. Steam my hair
After my hair is oiled, I use a claw clip to secure my hair. Then, I gently steam my hair with a warm towel. Place a towel in hot water and wring it out. You can also sit in a warm and steamy bathroom. The heat helps to moisturize dry hair and strands.
Additionally, the steam promotes better blood flow in the scalp. This encourages hair growth. The steam opens the cuticle layer and allows the oil treatment to penetrate deep into the hair shaft. This is done for between 45 and an hour, allowing the oil to seep into my hair shaft. I then rinse it off with water.
3. I choose multi-masking to solve my hair problems.
Many people have multiple hair conditions. Dry ends, oily roots and frizzy mid-lengths are the most common hair conditions. Because they can draw out the most impurities, hair masks lend the purifying properties and charcoal clay from face masks. They can remove oil, dirt and buildup from shampoos or styling products used throughout the week. Davines The Purity Circle scalp mask is my favorite. Since my hair is still dry and frizzy, I apply a hydrating masque to these areas. To make sure it’s multi-tasking, I leave all the masks on for 20 minutes before I apply a mask to my face. You can also use masks rich in silicones and kinds of butter to coat your hair if you have extremely dry hair completely.
4. Next, I scrub my scalp.
My scalp is not too tight when I use a soft brush such as Briogeo’s Scalp Revival to massage it. A natural bristled brush can be used to massage the scalp. It will move the natural oils from the roots to the ends and mid-lengths that are needed. To avoid irritation and damage, use gentle strokes and don’t press too hard. Christophe Robin’s cult Purifying Scrub With Sea Salt is what I use for exfoliation. This scrub gently removes dead skin and flakes from my scalp, and any chemical residues. The skin’s surface is healthier, and exfoliating it promotes hair growth. Exfoliating the scalp is just as important as using a peel or scrub on the skin.
5. Wash, condition, and protect
I use a shampoo that isn’t sulfate-free, and I then wash my hair with it. I then condition the ends. Apply a small amount of shampoo to your palms. Massage the shampoo into damp hair. Follow with conditioner. Rinse thoroughly. Cool water is best for your hair. It closes any cuticles that have been opened by steaming and leaves them shiny and manageable. After you have dried your hair, apply a hair serum at the ends. Apply heat protection sprays or creams if you are using heat tools. Finish the hair care routine with Byredo Elevator Music Hair Perfume spritzing.
