9 things you need to stop doing to your skin now!

Although you may think that you’re doing everything right for your skin, you still don’t have the skin you desire. You apply SPF every day, use the best products, drink two liters a day of water, exercise but not excessively, and get enough sleep… but why? We spend our days doing the right things, but we are damaging our skin unknowingly! Find out what you could be doing that is affecting your skin health.

You can touch your face.

COVID-19 taught me to be cautious about touching! You’d be surprised at how often I feel my face! Eek.

You can cause acne and other skin problems by touching your face. Try to be more aware of what you do and clean your face thoroughly with a good cleaner every night!

The pantry is a great place to hit at night.

It happens to everyone! You’ve eaten superfoods all week and been a healthy eater, but tonight, you gave in to the temptation of sugary treats. Is it really that bad? Unfortunately, it can! Sugar consumption affects the collagen reserves in our bodies. Collagen, a magical protein produced by our bodies, helps to keep our skin supple. It also makes it look younger. Sugary foods break down collagen and elastin, leading to wrinkles and dullness. My late-night feasts are over.

Sleeping with makeup on

We’ve all done it: had a few too many drinks or jumped into bed tired, only to realize you hadn’t taken off your makeup. You didn’t have the energy to clean your face, so we went to bed wearing makeup! It’s important to remember that if you don’t remove your makeup every night, it will prevent your skin from being able to regenerate as you sleep. If you don’t remove your makeup, the pores will clog up, and fatigue symptoms will start to appear. Two of my favorite makeup removers that melt away makeup and grime easily and effectively are Phytomer’s Doux Contour Eye & Lip Waterproof Makeup Removal and ELES Cosmetic’s Transformation Cleaning Oil.

The Phytomer ultra-hydrating makeup removal removes stubborn eye and lip makeup quickly by combining the efficacy of an oil with the gentleness and hydration of a cream. The ELES Transformation oil melts makeup away with its jojoba, safflower, olive, and vitamin E oils! You can also get three free muslin cleaning cloths when you buy the transformation cleansing oil in August!

Sleeping too little is not good for you.

You will suffer if you’re like me and go to bed late or don’t get enough sleep. (We are talking about the recommended 8 hours per night). It’s because it depletes your skin’s moisture and lowers your pH level. When your pH level drops, it creates an imbalance that prevents your skin from producing the moisture it requires, leading to dry, dull skin. This can cause redness and uneven skin, as well as trigger breakouts. Click to learn more about the effects of sleeping on your skin.

Hot showers

Okay, no one is going to refuse a warm shower in the winter. Although it’s a little luxury, it can be harmful to your skin. Hot water can dehydrate the skin and strip it of its moisture. This can cause the skin to lose its moisture. You won’t stop taking those hot showers in the morning, but you can reduce the temperature and limit your shower time. Also, make sure you moisturize immediately afterward with a good moisturizer. I am currently in love with Hydra Original Thirst Relief Melting Cream. It’s rich and delicious and provides intense and lasting moisture to my skin.

You don’t change your bedding often.

Why do we wash our sheets every night without a second glance? If we do not wash our bedding every week, it can lead to clogged pores. This can then lead to breakouts and blemishes. Why? There is an accumulation of bacteria and lubricant on our sheets and pillowcases caused by sweat sal, iva, and dead skin cells. Yuck.

Over exfoliating

Exfoliating once or twice per week is what you do, but are you over-exfoliating? Exfoliators that contain AHAs and BHAs can dry out your skin if you use them when they are not needed. You may be overdoing things if you start to develop dry patches or flaky, flaky skin. It’s vital to choose the right exfoliator for you and follow it up with moisturizing and hydrating creams.

Too much screen time

It’s not just me who is concerned about too much screen time these days. I think we all are. Screen time affects our skin, and this is why: All devices are now labeled as the silent anti-agers for our generation. Emit ‘blue light’. This light causes a free radical to damage our DNA by penetrating the dermis, where collagen and elastin reside, causing a loss in firmness, an increase in visible wrinkles, as well as inflammation and dark spots. It’s scary. Your best defense? Use targeted skincare and makeup to save time!

Iron oxide-containing products can be used to neutralize and repair damage caused by blue light. Try Pevonia’s Youth Renew tinted moisturizer or ELES Mineral Shimmer Tint SPF20.

Antioxidants are found in the skin. When exposed to free radicals, these are damaged and depleted quickly. You can counter the harmful effects of blue light by applying a topical antioxidant containing Vitamins C & E. Medicalia’s C Serum With Oxyzomes will protect and infuse the antioxidant deep into the skin to maximize anti-free radical effects and collagen-boosting benefits.

I also like Pevonia Stem Cells Phyto Elite Intensive Cream. It’s rich in Vitamins C and E, Marine Collagen, and Retinol. It repairs the damage to the skin and reduces the signs of premature aging. If you buy this cream during August, you will receive a full-size Stem Cells foaming cleanser for free!

Using dirty makeup brushes

It is important to wash your makeup tools. Both brushes and sponges can accumulate bacteria and dead skin cells, which can irritate your skin and pimples. If you use a dirty brush to apply makeup, the result could be streaky or patchy skin! Cleaning your brushes at least once per week will make it easier to apply makeup. Choose taklon brushes for “green” brushes that are allergy-free.
