We feel your pain if you have an uneven skin tone or enlarged pores that appear on your face permanently.
Many of us are just as concerned about our pore size as we are about skin aging! Why do some people have large pores? How can you reduce them quickly?
Our body produces less Elastin and Collagen as we age. Without these two substances, our skin begins to sag and become less elastic. When collagen breaks down in our skin, our pores get bigger. To make matters worse, if these enlarged pores are clogged up with dead skin cells and oil, they can form blackheads and whiteheads. A pimple will form when bacteria come into contact with the two. We can be haunted by something we once thought was only associated with our teenage years when we reach our 30s, 40s, and beyond!
Your pore size may be genetic (thanks, parents!) You can’t change its structure, and therefore, you cannot reduce the size of your pores. However, there are some tips and treatments that you can use to not only reduce the size of your pores but also give you smooth, even skin!

Introduce exfoliating cleansers
Not just any exfoliator will do, but one that contains AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acids), such as Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, and Citric Acid. And BHA (beta hydroxide acid), such as salicylic Acid. They are the best ingredients for cleaning and penetrating your clogged pores. Clogged pores also look larger. Unblocking your pores is the first step to reducing their size.
Salicylic Acid is the most effective in removing dead skin cells that are clogged up inside pores.
For those who are more prone to pimples, we highly recommend Pevonia’s Clarigel Exfoliating Cleanser. It is formulated with Salicylic and Citric Acids to provide intensive cleansing of problematic skin. Impurities are gently removed, and skin becomes clear, clean, and smooth.
View Collection Renewing Exfoliating Cream is perfect for those with enlarged pore sizes. The skin will look radiant, youthful, and renewed (yes, please!). It smooths out roughness and reduces the appearance of large pores!
Use a skin primer
If you have oily skin, a good primer is essential. It will not only stop your makeup from sliding off of your face, but it will also keep it smooth and reduce the appearance of pores (and fine lines).
I’ve used many primers in the past, but my skin is oily, and I have pores that are, shall we say, a little larger. I use the Pore Perfecting Face Primer. It’s lightweight and oil-free, and it shines almost immediately. It has a Dermat Complex, which is able to absorb oil in one go and reduce the size of pores.
Wear sunscreen daily
We are serious. You’ve heard it a thousand times, but we mean it. Please do it. Sun exposure is the number one reason for premature skin aging. The more we don’t wear sunscreen, the faster our collagen breaks down, causing skin to sag. It’s up to you whether you use a daily moisturizer, foundation, or both. But using sunscreen is essential.
ELES Cosmetics’ best-selling Liquid Mineral Foundation SPF15 is a liquid mineral foundation that glides on silky smooth and sets to a powder finish. This is ideal for all skin tones, even oily ones. It also protects against future damage.
Choose a moisturizer that will help to minimize pores
It’s real! You must use one now if you don’t. You won’t believe how well it works. Our favorite is Pevonia Age Correction Micropore Refine Cream. This cream reduces oil and pore size while also providing long-lasting moisture.
Give retinol a go
Retinol has been hailed as the anti-aging ingredient in the world of skincare. It is known for its ability to slow down signs of aging by increasing your skin’s production of collagen. However, it also decreases oil production, which results in smoother skin and fewer breakouts.
It’s worth the wait if you’ve never tried retinol at night. Just make sure you choose a gentler retinol and gradually introduce it to your skincare routine.
It is a highly recommended Medicalia L Retinol Cream. Combining Retinol and Glycolic Acids (ah, yes, those two faithful pore-perfecting acids again!) It is essential for resurfacing, regenerating, and brightening the skin.
